New Delhi: The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) recently unveiled its revamped national website, www.incometaxindia.gov.in in a move aimed at enhancing the experience of taxpayers and adapting to the latest technological trends.
The revamped website was launched on 26th August, 2023, by the Chairman of CBDT Nitin Gupta, during the ‘Chintan Shivir’, an event organised by the Directorate of Income Tax department (Systems) in Udaipur.
Following are the features on the Income Tax department revamps website:
Provides cross-referenced and hyperlinked access to Direct Tax laws, Allied Acts, Rules, Income Tax department circulars and Notifications.
A ‘Taxpayer Service Module’ to assist taxpayers in filing their income tax returns that features several tax tools.
A mobile-responsive layout that is aesthetically redesigned.
A ‘Mega Menu’ that has new features and functionalities.
Dynamic due date alerts with reverse countdowns, tooltips and links for easy compliance of taxpayers.
The website provides a guided virtual tour and button indicators that will help visitors understand the newly added features. It will allow taxpayers to compare Acts, Sections, Rules and Tax treaties. “The revamped website is another initiative in providing enhanced taxpayer services and will continue to educate taxpayers and facilitate tax compliance,” CBDT added.
It is to be noted that this website serves the purpose of educating taxpayers about the existing Income Tax department laws and income tax services. It is not a website for filing taxes.
